KUCHING, Sept 25: A fire razed two double-storey houses and destroyed two vehicles at Taman Indah Landeh in Siburan last night (Sept 24), leaving 14 residents affected.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Siburan, assisted by personnel from Kota Sentosa and Batu Lintang stations, responded to the emergency at 6.43pm.
According to the operations commander, both houses, each measuring 17 by 18 feet, were completely destroyed in the blaze.
In addition, two other nearby units sustained around 20 per cent water damage to their ceilings.
Three vehicles were also caught in the fire. A Toyota Hilux and a Proton Persona were completely destroyed, while a Proton Exora suffered about 10 per cent damage.
Fortunately, there were no injuries or casualties reported.
Firefighters deployed one 200-foot hose line, two breechings and five jets, drawing water from a nearby fire hydrant. Both offensive and defensive firefighting methods were used to prevent the flames from spreading to other houses.
Occupants affected included four from Unit 180 (two men and two women), six from Unit 181 (two men, two women, one elderly person and one teenager), three from Unit 178 (two women and one man), and one from Unit 179 (one man).
