BINTULU, July 30: A fire destroyed a workers’ quarters with 12 doors in Kampung Extension Tatau today, displacing around 30 foreign workers.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak responded to the emergency at 3.55pm and immediately deployed a team of firefighters from Tatau station to the scene.
The fire completely razed the quarters, but fortunately, all 29 foreign workers from Indonesia and Bangladesh managed to escape to safety.
Firefighters successfully put out the fire, and ascertained that there were no other sources of ignition at the site.
The operation concluded at 5.35pm after ensuring the safety of the site. — DayakDaily
