KUCHING, Sept 12: A three-storey shop along Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce here was damaged in an early-morning fire today.
According to a report from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), a call was received at 3.42am, and firefighters from the Batu Lintang station were deployed with assistance from the Padungan and Tabuan Jaya stations.
Upon arrival, firefighters confirmed that the fire had fully engulfed the first floor, while about 80 per cent of the second floor was affected. The ground floor was not involved in the fire.
The affected building was estimated to measure about 40 feet by 80 feet.
Firefighters used a 200-foot hose line with three nozzles to fight the fire.
A water tanker from the Tabuan Jaya station was also deployed to provide additional water supply after firefighters encountered low water pressure from the nearby fire hydrant.
The fire was brought under control at about 5.18am, with firefighting efforts still ongoing. — DayakDaily
