KUCHING, Sept 7: A fire at the Trienekens (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd (Trienekens) landfill in Tanjung Kidurong, Bintulu is under control.
According to a news report from TV Sarawak (TVS) yesterday (Sept 6), Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Bintulu’s operation to extinguish the flames have been proceeding smoothly since last Sunday (Sept 3).
Bintulu Bomba chief Wan Kamarudin Wan Ahmad said as of 5pm yesterday, the operation continues ’round the clock’ and firefighters are working 12-hour shifts.
He also said that Bintulu Bomba is controlling the fire from spreading further using cooling and starvation techniques.
He explained that they are using an excavator to dig out flammable materials and making a fire break by digging water ditches at the location.
The operation involves a total of 15 firefighters assisted by Civil Defense Force (APM), Department of Environment, Trienekens, Bintulu Port Fire Brigade and Bintulu’s Centralize Emergency and Fire Services (CEFT). — DayakDaily
