KUCHING, Feb 3: The Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) hopes to set up a technical committee to rejuvenate Merdeka Palace Hotel and other assets in Sarawak with the help of the Sarawak government.
According to a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Felda chairman Tan Sri Dato Seri Idris Jusoh said the hotel is quite backward presently, considering that it used to be a centre of attraction, has high potential and is also iconic to Sarawak.
āDuring a courtesy visit to the Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg earlier, some suggestions were given by him and we will go through the details with the committee that will be established later.
āApart from Merdeka Palace Hotel, we have assets in the form of plantations in Samarahan, Miri, Limbang and many more. We will discuss this in detail in the committee,ā he said when met after the courtesy call at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here today.
Idris further said through the rationalisation process, Felda hopes that it would be able to ensure that its plans to move forward in Sarawak will be easier to coordinate. ā DayakDaily
