KUCHING, Jan 6: PET WALK 2025 will serve double duty as a platform to raise awareness among pet owners on the importance of rabies vaccination and animal care, as well as promoting a healthy lifestyle, this April 27 at the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Foyer.
In a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) news report today, the event will be jointly organised by the Kuching Progressive Community Organisation and the Sarawak Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA).
According to SSPCA chairperson, Datin Dona Drury Wee, the pet-friendly event allows individuals to participate with or without their pets and is targeting 1,000 participants.
āFifty per cent of the net profit will be donated to SSPCA to cover operating costs,ā she said in a press conference today.
Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing, and Local Government, Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee, will be invited as the guest of honour while MBKS Mayor, Dato Wee Hong Seng, will also be present at the event scheduled to kick off at 6.30am.
The Kuching Division Health Office is also providing support by offering free health screening for all participants.
In addition, various information related to public health will be showcased to visitors throughout the event.
The organisers also welcome sponsorships in the form of funds, goods or participation from ministries, government departments and agencies, government-linked companies (GLCs), corporate companies, and non-governmental organisations (NGOs). ā DayakDaily
