KUCHING, March 8: The federal government is in the final stages of resolving the issue of parliamentary funding for Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, says Deputy Prime Minister Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof.

Speaking to reporters after a bubur pedas distribution programme in Satok today, Fadillah said discussions with Syed Saddiq have been progressing positively.

“InsyaAllah, the issue will be settled for Syed Saddiq. He has responded and, in principle, agreed to several matters.

“We are now finalising the agreement and, God willing, we will be able to conclude it with YB Syed Saddiq,” he said.

Fadillah also revealed that Syed Saddiq is currently the only opposition MP who has responded so far regarding the matter.

“As of now, he is the only one who has responded. I have yet to receive any letters from other opposition MPs,” he added.

When asked if Syed Saddiq had responded through a letter or a meeting, Fadillah confirmed that both had taken place.

The issue of parliamentary allocations has been a contentious topic, with opposition MPs frequently raising concerns over the lack of funding for their constituencies.

Syed Saddiq recently made headlines when he revealed that he had resorted to working as a model to raise funds for his constituency. – DayakDaily
