Father fined RM3,000 for disobeying mandatory quarantine to buy child’s milk powder

KUCHING, Sept 30: The Magistrate’s Court here fined a man RM3,000 for violating the mandatory 14-day home quarantine order as he went out to buy milk powder for his child.

Sudirmanto Mohamad pleaded guilty to the charge here today.


Magistrate Zaiton Anuar accepted his plea and sentenced him to a fine of RM3,000 or in default to three months’ imprisonment.

He was ordered to undergo a mandatory 14-day home quarantine from June 24 to July 7 at his home in Kampung Tupong Tengah. However, he was found not at home on July 3, at about 10.30am.

He was charged under Section 22(b )of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 which is punishable under Section 24(a) of the same Act, which carries an imprisonment term of not more than two years or with fine or with both, upon conviction. ā€” DayakDaily
