KUCHING, Feb 22: The new ‘Farmer Street’ in Bau will provide opportunities for smallholders and local farmers to thrive and increase their income through the dedicated marketplace where they can sell their agricultural products, Tasik Biru State Assembly Dato Henry Harry Jinep says.
The proposed launch of ‘Farmer’s Street’ is scheduled for Feb 2025, with the official opening set for Feb 24, 2025.
According to a news report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Henry, who is also Deputy Minister of Transport Sarawak (Rivers and Sea), said that this initiative also directly contributes to the food supply chain in this district.
He said that with the programme, which is organised by the Bau Area Farmers’ Organisation Centre (PPKB), farmers in the area will be involved in various supply chains including livestock, fruits, and vegetables.
Henry said this at the closing ceremony of the Agricultural Development Programme Seminar, Agricop at the Tasik Biru State Assembly (DUN) level, Bau yesterday.
Also present at the seminar were the Bau District assistant officer Saffika Kueh, and Temenggong for the Bidayuh community in Kuching Division Atok Derop. – DayakDaily
