KUCHING, July 11: The Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS)’s Community Pantry Programme continues with the launching of Farley’s Food Bank donation drive today.
Present to officiate the launch was MPKS chairman Dato Peter Minos who also expressed his delight over the generous contribution of 120 boxes of food aid from the members of the public within a single day.
Each box is worth RM25 and comprises two packs of instant noodles, coffee/tea mix, cream crackers, rice vermicelli, two cans of food, sweetened creamer and white sandwich bread.
Minos believed that the food aid would be able to assist those in need during this unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic.
MPKS councillor Dato Sim Kiang Chiok who is also the Community Pantry organising chairman in a statement today said the donation box has a card for donors to leave their names and a note of good wishes for the aid recipients.
“When everyone chips in no matter how big or small the contribution, hunger will not be a problem during this lockdown.
“These boxes of food will be distributed everyday together with Farley’s daily 50 food packs at 3pm. The food packs and boxes will be distributed in accordance with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) set by the authorities,” he said.
Sim further pointed out that during this lockdown, many factories and offices are closed. Therefore, many daily paid workers have become jobless and micro businesses have had to closed down.
“So if you know anyone that needs assistance, please inform them to be at any of the venues of Community Pantry Programme at 3pm namely, Aiman Mall, Emart Summer Mall, Farley Supermarket, H&L Supermarket, LePaPa Hypermarket, Unaco Supermarket, Choice Supermarket, Everwin, BB Supermarket and Everrise.
“Additionally, they can also get the aid at any eight branches of CS Mini Market at Mile 7, Mile 9, Mile 17, Serian, MJC, Muara Tuang, Jalan Wan Alwi and Metrocity; as well as four branches of Sen Sen Trading at SamaIndah, Desa Ilmu, Mile 17 and Serian,” he said, while adding that the programme will end tomorrow. — DayakDaily
