SARATOK, July 11: A couple and their two children, a 4-year-old boy and a baby boy aged 1 year and 3 months were killed in an accident involving two vehicles near Simpang Roban, Jalan Saratok-Sarikei today.
A spokesman for Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said they received a report on the incident at 6.53am.
He added that personnel from the Saratok Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) were deployed to the scene.
“The accident involved two vehicles, namely a trailer truck and a Honda City car.
“All four victims in the Honda City were trapped and were pronounced dead by the medical team,” the spokesperson revealed in a statement today.
The bodies of the trapped victims were extricated using special equipment and then handed over to the police.
“The victims who died were a 30-year-old adult man (husband), an adult woman (wife), a 4-year-old boy and a baby boy aged 1 year and 3 months,” the spokesman added.
Meanwhile, the lorry driver was reported to be unhurt.
Firefighters cleaned the road of glass fragments and oil spills from the accident.
