BINTULU, Sept 4: Extrameal Bintulu extended a helping hand to five patients, including a 10-month-old baby with a perforated heart, by donating various daily essentials.

Founder Francis Ngu Hown Hua said in a media release today that the donations, under the Jalinan Ambang Merdeka programme, were delivered to the patients who were discharged from the Bintulu Hospital yesterday (Sept 3).

“They (recipients) are from poor families in rural areas (who came here to receive treatment or) to care for their family members and they needed help,” he said.

He emphasised that this annual charity event was a reminder to not forget about the sick, needy and unfortunate in the community.

“We hope the donations can cheer them up no matter the hardship they are going through,” he added.

Ngu took the opportunity to thank generous and kind individuals who assisted the needy patients as well as informed Extrameal Bintulu about their needs.

“At first we were informed about two patients at the hospital who desperately needed donations and help with essentials.

“And later we got a message from a group of individuals who followed Extrameal Bintulu’s social media channel wanting to donate to the needy,” he disclosed.

“With the contributions from the donors, we are able to give to the three additional families in need.”

Ngu hopes the donations would ease the burdens of the patients and their families as well as bring some joy to the children. — DayakDaily
