Ex bank teller pleads not guilty to 39 CBT charges involving RM63,000

SIBU, Nov 13: A former bank teller pleaded not guilty and claimed trial at the Sessions Court here for 39 charges of criminal breach of trust (CBT) involving RM63,000.

Andrew Yang Li Yu, 28, was charged under Section 408 of the Penal Code before judge Caroline Bee Majanil this morning.

Sarawak Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) chief Supt Maria Rasid disclosed that Yang was accused of committing the offenses from August 2018 to July 2020 while he was working as a teller with Maybank Sibu branch.


On Nov 5, Yang was arrested and remanded for six days to facilitate police investigations.

The court allowed Yang to be released on a bail of RM15,000 with two sureties and fixed Dec 10 for pre-trial case management. – DayakDaily
