Man jailed three years for cheating involving catering service

KUCHING, Aug 6: A man was sentenced to three years’ jail by a Magistrate’s Court after he pleaded guilty of a criminal breach of trust (CBT) involving RM9,500.

The accused, Lim Seng Hua, 46, pleaded guilty before magistrate Mohd Syukri Mokhtar when he was charged in court here, today.

It is understood that the accused, from Song, Kapit, was a habitual offender.


According to the charge, Lim was said to have deceived Zaini Brahim into believing that he was a caterer and in order to acquire the said service, the victim was required to transfer RM9,500 into his account.

He was charged under Section 420 of the Penal Code, which carries an imprisonment between one and 10 years, whipping and fine upon conviction.

Inspector Nelson Ensit prosecuted, while the accused was unrepresented by counsel. — DayakDaily
