KUCHING July 2: FL Motorsport and Basketball Club spokesperson Andy Chong hopes that members of the public enjoy Street of the Street 2023, an event which fuses basketball, auto show and car drifting, at the compound of La Promenade Mall over the weekend.
Billed as Malaysia’s first ever event combining a 3-on-3 basketball competition and auto gathering drift show, the two-day event which ends today also featured a hoop shoot loop challenge and charity shooting game.
Chong thanked Hock Seng Lee (HSL) for the venue and for hosting the event.
He said the 3-on-3 basketball event thrilled the crowd with top-notch players showcasing their skills on the court, and with the presence of basketball star Tan Wing Jet.
Visitors were also welcome to take rides and experience sitting in a “drift taxi” tackling sharp turns with precision and speed.
“These events are opportunities for everyone to have the chance to discover new activities that may be unfamiliar to them,” he told reporters at La Promenade Mall today.
He further explained car drifting is an amazing sport and it takes a lot of skills and patience to drift a car.
“Making it look spectacular and safe is not easy. I am glad this genre of motorsport is developing so quickly among Sarawakians. In the car show, we also highlight sleek and stunning vehicles from various manufacturers, on display.”
“The ‘Street of the Street’ event should continue in the future so that street sports enthusiasts have a venue, and we want to continue collaborate with the host like HSL in this kind of event,” he said.
Also with him were the 3×3 Basketball marshall and Organiser Gary Yong, and Kuching Drift Crew member and Marshall for the car drift event Benny Chin. — DayakDaily
