EPF members can make withdrawals up to RM5,000 via i-Citra

KUCHING, June 28: The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) members can withdraw up to RM5,000 from their retirement fund under the i-Citra programme.

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the EPF i-Citra programme is among the financial aid revealed under the People’s Protection and Economic Recovery Package (Pemulih) initiative to support Malaysians who are affected from the implementation of Movement Control Order (MCO).

“Through i-Citra, a total of 12.6 million EPF members can make withdrawals of up to RM5,000 with a fixed payment rate of RM1,000 per month for a period of five months, subject to the member’s total EPF savings.

“The implementation of i-Citra is expected to channel RM30 billion to the people to meet daily needs.

“Members can start applying for the EPF withdrawal facility on the i-Citra online portal at icitra.kwsp.gov.my from July 15, 2021, with the first payment expected to be credited to the member’s account in August 2021,” he said when announcing the Pemulih on live telecast today.

At the same time, EPF in a statement informed that all members below the age of 55 are eligible to apply for i-Citra, which allows them to withdraw up to a maximum of RM5,000 subject to their total combined balance in both Account 1 and 2.

“The approved withdrawal amount will be paid for a period of up to five months, with a fixed monthly payment of RM1,000 per month subject to savings balance and minimum of RM50.

“An updated mobile number to receive the Transaction Authorisation Code (TAC) and an active personal bank account are required to facilitate the application process,” it elaborated. — DayakDaily
