MIRI, Oct 14: A 19-year-old woman and one of her relatives were injured after a man assaulted them inside their house in a quadruplex flat in Permyjaya here on Thursday.
Around 5.30pm, the man, armed with two machetes, stormed into the woman’s home to confront her. At the time, the victims were in the kitchen area washing dishes before they were assaulted by the suspect.
According to sources, the man aged 23, was said to have been sad and dissatisfied after his romantic overtures were denied and rejected by the woman who already had a boyfriend.
Prior to the attack, the suspect had asked the woman to go on a date multiple times but was rejected.
Following the incident, police arrested the suspect for questioning. — DayakDaily
