MIRI, Dec 2: A male engineer and his money were soon parted when he fell victim to a phone scammer.

A police report was lodged by the victim in his late 20s on Saturday (Nov 30) after he lost cash amounting to RM6, 000.

According to sources, the incident unfolded on Saturday morning around 9am when he received a call from a female caller who claimed to be an officer of the Kedah Court.

The caller told the victim that he had been involved in an alleged hit-and-run incident at Jalan Sultanah, Alor Setar, Kedah.

Initially, the victim denied being involved in such an occurrence, as he told the female caller that he had never been to the area.

She then disclosed that the victim had been involved in ‘money games’ like JJ Poor to Rich and that the victim had to make some payment to settle the case.

Fearing arrest by the police, the victim made three transactions amounting RM6,000 into an account number given by the caller.

He then realised he had been duped after making the transactions. — DayakDaily
