KUCHING, April 19: Utilities Minister Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi says the Kuching Water Board has restored the booster pumps at the Mile 10 booster station.
He said the booster pumps’ system was restored and operational at 3:29pm and the affected pipeline network will gradually be pressurised before the system is operating back to normal to resume delivery of water supply to affected consumers.
“The works are being carried by a specialist vendor for the VSD system,” Dr Rundi told DayakDaily in a WhatApps message earlier today.
He was responding to the issue of water supply failure to the whole area of Puncak Borneo up til Kampung Sarig, Kampung Pesa, Kampung Pulau Kandis and Kampung Menjau, which has been facing dry taps since last night.
The lack of water supply has greatly inconvenienced the residents of the area.
According to a notice issued by the Rural Water Supply Department yesterday, the water supply in the Padawan area was scheduled to be cut off yesterday 8am to 5pm was cut off, but as of this morning, the water supply had not been restored.
The department explained that the failure to supply water was due to the failure of booster pumps at the Mile 10 booster station. — DayakDaily
