KUCHING, June 24: All Indonesian nationals with work permits are allowed to enter Sarawak, but are required to undergo a mandatory 14-day quarantine.

State Disaster Management Committee chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas pointed out that the employers have to pay for the cost of quarantine accommodations in identified centres as well as for Covid-19 tests upon arrival in Sarawak and the 10th day.

On the latest standard operating procedures (SOP), he said that the guidelines for the Transfer of Rock Material and Mining sector will be effective immediately.

“The Ministry of Transport has also come up with the SOP for taxi and e-hailing operators which is also effective immediately.

“As for the farmers market under Kuching North City Commission (DBKU), the SOP will come into effect on June 26.

“The Local Government and Housing Ministry has also updated and improved the SOP for the food and beverage sector for premises, retailing and departmental stores,” he told a press conference on Covid-19 today.

All the SOP can be downloaded from the Local Government and Housing Ministry’s website at http://mlgh.sarawak.gov.my.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Chief Minister also informed that automated-teller machines (ATMs) and cash deposit machines (CDMs) are allowed to operate for 24 hours from today onwards.

As for calls for the reopening of pre-schools to be delayed in Sarawak, he said the state government will stick to the decision on safe reopening from July 1.

“Before we made the decision the other day, we discussed several issues and took into consideration the views of health experts as well as the health and safety of children and preschools,” he reassured. —DayakDaily
