EMCO enforced in four villages in Kuching, Sarikei and Pakan

KUCHING, May 3: Four villages in Kuching, Sarikei and Pakan have been placed under Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) starting April 30 until May 13, 2021.

According to a statement issued by the National Security Council (MKN) and approved by the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) today, the four villages affected are Kampung Sagah, Jalan Sungai Tengah in Kuching, Rh Rampai, Sg Anyit Selangan; Rh Chan Minggat, Sg Kesa in Sarikei; and Rh Payau Emperan Datuk, Sg Pinang in Pakan.

For Kampung Sagah, Jalan Sungai Tengah in Kuching, the EMCO takes effect from May 1 until May 14, 2021, while for the other three villages, the EMCO takes effect from April 30 until May 13, 2021.


During the EMCO, all social, recreational and cultural activities are not permitted. All entry and exit points to the affected areas will be closed with no visitors allowed and residents not permitted to leave their homes.

All mosques, houses of worship, as well as schools in the EMCO areas are closed, while economic activities are not allowed during the EMCO period.

The movement of duty officers in and out of the EMCO areas are also not permitted but consideration can be given by the police or Ministry of Health (MOH) on a case-to-case basis. MOH will also conduct targeted screening tests on the residents involved.

For emergency cases such as funeral matters and sickness, a travel permit is required from the police, and it can be applied for by immediate family members through the respective Division Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) or the EMCO operation centre.

Apart from that, all donations and contributions from non-governmental organisations (NGOs) throughout the EMCO period must go through and be coordinate together with the district respective DDMC. — DayakDaily
