KUCHING, Aug 12: Eligible Malaysian citizens on both prepaid and postpaid mobile plans will receive 10GB of free data under the 2026 National Day and Malaysia Day (HKHM) RAHMAH Rebate Incentive.
Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil said the initiative is a collaboration between the government, through the Communications Ministry, and five telecommunications providers, including CelcomDigi, Maxis, TM, U Mobile and YES.
“Five GB will be provided on National Day on Aug 31, 2026, with another 5GB to be given on Malaysia Day on Sept 16, 2026.
“The participating telecommunications companies will announce details on how and when the free data can be redeemed, subject to their respective terms and conditions,” he said when speaking at the Strategic Sponsorship Contribution Handover Ceremony for the 2026 National Day and Malaysia Day (HKHM) celebrations in Kuala Lumpur today as reported by TVS.
He also thanked the Communications Ministry’s Control and Compliance Division for conducting consultations with the telecommunications companies to facilitate the implementation of the initiative.
Meanwhile, Fahmi said the total value of sponsorships secured for the 2026 HKHM celebrations and approved by the Communications Ministry’s Sponsorship Committee had reached RM48.63 million, an increase of more than 118 per cent from RM22.3 million last year.
Of the total, RM2.7 million was contributed in cash, while RM45.93 million came in the form of goods and services.
He said 50 per cent of the sponsorship value would go towards promotional activities, while 30% comprised goods to be distributed to visitors.
The remaining 20 per cent would be channelled as sponsorship for the various committees involved in organising the 2026 HKHM celebrations. — DayakDaily
