KUCHING, May 28: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Kota Sentosa chief Wilfred Yap urges elected representatives to serve the people rather than be busy politicking during this critical time of the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to Yap who is also SUPP Public Complaints Bureau (PCB) chief in a press statement today, there have been numerous statements on various issues from Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) and Democratic Action Party (DAP) as the Sarawak State elections is likely to be held within a year’s time.

“I hope that politicians from PSB and DAP instead of politicking through misinformation using the media would instead place the needs of the people first and have their problems resolved and settled as topmost priority.

“I also hope that the elected representatives from DAP and PSB will also put “people over politics” by resolving their predicaments especially so during this period of Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) due to the Covid-19 pandemic,” he urged.

He added SUPP Kota Sentosa is committed and focused on serving the rakyat by being their eyes and ears and will continue to speak out on basic human rights and other matters of good governance in accordance with the rule of law by using the proper channels.

Yap disclosed that during his regular walkabout with local community leaders at 7th Mile, Penrissen Road here, he had been approached by local residents and the business community for assistance to get the local council to carry out improvement and repair works on damaged infrastructure and facilities like drains and roads.

After receiving these requests for assistance, the problems were always communicated immediately to the relevant authorities for their prompt action to carry out maintenance and repair works, he revealed.

Yap emphasised that any citizen who requires assistance may contact SUPP PCB at 016-7797688 or 082-246999, or go directly to the SUPP Head Office here to request for assistance. — DayakDaily
