BETONG, July 23: A 70-year-old woman was reported missing by her family after she failed to return home from the farm last night.

It is understood that Linjong Edward from Rh Karin, Tabut, Skrang, left her house alone to the farm at Memalor Batu 8 at around 9am.

According to Fire and Rescue department (Bomba) operations centre, based on information gathered by Betong firefighters who responded to the emergency call at 8.24pm last night, Linjong had used a boat cross the river to where the farm is located.

By evening, her family members realised she had not come home. Upon checking, they found her boat still tied to the tree at the other side of the river.

Together with fellow villagers, they failed to locate her, prompting the family to contact authorities for assistance.

Search and Rescue (SAR) operations consisting of firefighters, police and villagers led by Betong fire chief Vincent Baling Yabi started today.

This morning’s search is based on the oil palm’s border boundary plot using the base line method.
