MIRI, April 19: Eight local men were charged today in the Miri Sessions Court for their involvement in causing an affray inside a bar at a hotel at Jalan Bintang.
The suspects aged between 18 to 45 arrived at the Miri Court building at 9.20am, escorted by a police team from Miri Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
They were charged with committing the said offence on April 16 at about 12.30am at the hotel bar.
However, no plea was taken as the charge was read before Miri Sessions Court Judge Zaini Fishir.
The judge fixed May 17 for mention of the case.
The charges, framed under Section 160 of the Penal Code for committing an affray, carries a jail term of up to six months, or a fine of up to RM1,000, or both upon conviction. — DayakDaily
