KUCHING, Aug 18: Sarawak’s education autonomy emerged as a central topic during a recent meeting between Minister of Education, Innovation, and Talent Development Sarawak Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn and Deputy Prime Minister Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof in Putrajaya.
The meeting took place yesterday (Aug 17), where a delegation from the ministry, headed by Sagah, paid a visit to Fadillah, who is also the Minister of Plantation and Commodities.
The meeting, held in Fadillah’s office in Putrajaya, involved in-depth conversations concerning the ministry’s pursuit of educational autonomy.
According to a statement, other matters discussed include the existing challenges confronting education in Sarawak, especially in developing and redeveloping school infrastructure projects, along with the imperative need for adequate funding to support educational programmes throughout Sarawak.
Fadillah gave assurance that appropriate actions would be taken on the federal front to address these matters and concerns effectively.
The delegation comprised Deputy Ministers Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee and Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, permanent secretary to the ministry Azmi Bujang, political secretary to the Premier of Sarawak Damien Rejek, and ministry’s officers. — DayakDaily
