KUCHING, July 31: The Election Commission (EC) has officially received the notification that the 15th Sabah State Legislative Assembly (DUN) was dissolved.
According to EC secretary Ikmalrudin Ishak, the commission will meet soon to decide matters related to the Sabah state election that must be held within 60 days from yesterday based on Article 21(4) of the Sabah State Constitution.
“Therefore, the EC will hold a special meeting to discuss the implementation of the election.
“The date of the meeting will be announced by EC later,” he said in a statement today.
Yesterday, Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal announced the dissolution of the Sabah DUN during a press conference after he had an audience with the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin.
He said Juhar had consented to dissolve the state assembly to pave the way for a snap election. —DayakDaily
