KUCHING, Dec 16: A total of 1.21 million voters out of 1.25 million registered voters are eligible to vote during the 12th Sarawak Election on Dec 18.
Election Commission (EC) secretary Datuk Ikmalrudin Ishak in a statement today said some 20,360 people comprised of early voters and 17,885 people comprised of postal voters have cast their ballots.
He urged voters who were informed of the voting information to go to the polling station which has been arranged.
Voters are also urged to check on their voting information prior to the polling date through https://pengundi.spr.gov.my, MySPR Semak Application or SPR Hotline at 03-8892 7018.
While checking, voters are reminded to take notes on the information on the polling centre, polling station and the number of voters.
Ikmalrudin added the EC through the MySPR application has released the information on the time for each voter to vote and they are advised to go for voting during the time which has been suggested.
He said if voters could not be present at the time allocated due to unforeseen circumstances, they can still vote at any time from 7:30am until 5pm or at the time which has been gazetted at the polling station.
Nonetheless, Ikmalrudin reminded voters not to cast their ballots during last minute and always abide by the legislation, rules and special guidelines for the prevention of Covid-19 on polling day.
He also reminded voters to bring along their identification card and the notes which voters have recorded down on the information on polling and to show it to the first polling clerk at the polling centre.
Ikmalrudin explained that the notes will facilitate the first polling clerk to perform verification of voters and speed up the voting process on polling day.
He also reminded voters not to give their identification card to other parties other than election workers at the respective polling centre.
Ikmalrudin said the EC encourages voters to fulfil their obligation as a responsible citizen and come out to vote this coming Saturday (Dec 18). — DayakDaily
