KUCHING, July 16: A fire broke out in the kitchen area of a cafe on the first floor of The Podium on Jalan Tun Datuk Patinggi Haji Ahmad Zaidi Adruce during the early hours this morning.
Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak responded to the emergency at 4.58am and swiftly mobilised a team of firefighters from Batu Lintang Station with assistance from Padungan Station to the scene.
The fire affected the wet kitchen area at the back of the outlet, causing an estimated 60 per cent damage.
No injuries or casualties were reported.
Firefighters contained the blaze, preventing it from spreading further, and fully extinguished the fire.
The operation concluded at 6.20am after ensuring there were no remaining sources of ignition and that the site was safe. — DayakDaily
