MIRI, July 13: A 21-year-old man was killed in a two-vehicle accident that occurred on Jalan Kuala Baram here early this morning.
In a report from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), a call was received at 2.15am, and firefighters from the Lutong station were deployed.
It was noted that the accident involved a Perodua Bezza and a trailer lorry, with the driver of the Bezza found trapped in the driver’s seat.
The team carried out rescue operations using specialised Road Traffic Accident (RTA) rescue equipment to extricate the victim, identified as Edmud Lingie Entalang, who was later handed over to the police for further action.
Meanwhile, in a statement, Miri District Police Chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said that investigations found that the victim, who was travelling from Miri town towards Senadin, was believed to have lost control of his vehicle before crashing into a trailer lorry that was parked on the left road shoulder.
The victim was pronounced dead at 2.41am, while the trailer lorry driver was uninjured.
The case is being investigated under **Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
