Dutch Prof seeks research collaboration with Sarawak govt on carbon, sustainable forest management

KUCHING, Feb 28: Dr Peter Van Der Meer of Van Hall Larenstein (VHL), University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands has expressed his desire to collaborate in research on carbon and sustainable forest management (SFM) with the Sarawak government.

Dr Peter conveyed this during a courtesy visit on Sarawak Forest Department director Datu Hamden Mohammad today.

According to a media release, both sides have exchanged views on forest conservation and tree replanting programme after high-value crops like oil palm cultivation during the hour-long meeting.

Hamden emphasised that collaboration between Sarawak Forest Department together with foreign higher education institutions like the Dutch VHL is a very valuable opportunity to enhance the reputation of forest management and environmental conservation efforts in Sarawak.
