SIBU, Jan 4: A vegetable farmer and a jobless man have been apprehended for causing mischief on two different people.

The duo, who cooked up stories explaining their actions, had ganged up to attack the two victims.

Sibu district police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said in the first case which happened at 4.20am on Jan 1 at Jalan Bujang Suntong, the duo showed up in a 4WD and smashed the windscreen of the complainant’s car.

Stanley said they did this because the victim, 22, had stolen their handphone.

Then at about 6.20am on Jan 3, in front of a petrol kiosk at Taman Indah, the two suspects alighted from their 4WD and also smashed the windscreen of a car belonging to another victim, 48.

“The victim was told that they did it as they were not happy he was driving too slow,” he said.

Stanley said at 1.20pm on Jan 3, a police team went to a house in Jalan Teku to conduct a raid.

The 20-year-old jobless suspect put up a struggle while resisting arrest.

Police went on to arrest the second suspect, a 36-year-old vegetable farmer on the same day from a house at Jalan Hock Ming.

Stanley said the case was being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for causing mischief which resulted in the damage of property. —DayakDaily
