Vacation sours as man racks up RM5,000 in damages at serviced apartment in Kuching

KUCHING, Feb 25: The Magistrate’s Court here fined an unemployed man RM5,000 for conducting mischief at a serviced apartment.

Jonathan Goh Yow Chang, 36, from Kuala Lumpur pleaded guilty to the charge framed.


Magistrate Mohd Syukri Mokhtar accepted his plea of guilty and sentenced him to a fine of RM 5,000 or seven months’ imprisonment in default.

Goh was found committing mischief on properties belonging to Citadines Uplands Kuching at Simpang Tiga.

Amongst the items are one television, one cabinet glass, one sofa, one container, cutlery, one can opener, a pair of pillows, a set of speakers and a WiFi access point, incurring an estimated loss of RM 5,000.

He was charged under Section 427 of the Penal Code, which carries an imprisonment term between one and five years or with fine or with both, upon conviction. —DayakDaily
