MIRI, April 19: Sarawak Bumiputera Teachers Union (KGBS) president Ahmad Malie lauded Senator Alan Ling’s suggestion that students go on field trips to prison or court as part of efforts to expose them to the damage cause by drug addiction.

“KGBS is giving its support to what Senator Alan Ling has suggested as it will help enlighten the students on hazardous things that drugs can bring,” he said when contacted by DayakDaily.

Ahmad was responding to Ling’s proposal at the ‘Taklimat Sivik’ session at Kolej Tun Dato Tuanku Haji Bujang on Wednesday.

During the session attended by some 150 Form Six students of the school, Ling suggested that students should visit prisons and courts as part of efforts to educate them of the dangers of drug abuse.

Ahmad has described the susggestion as an early, proactive prevention education measure.

He also believes that parents would definitely welcome the suggestion.
