Driver rescued after lorry skids along Jalan Bau-Lundu

KUCHING, Jan 28: A lorry driver was rescued by firefighters after being pinned down following an accident along Bau-Lundu Road, earlier today.

Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operation centre in a statement today said they received the call regarding the incident at 9.29 pm, and deployed a team of six firefighters from Lundu fire station led by PBK Joseph Diea to the location.

“Operation commander arrived at the location found that the incident involved a lorry laden with 30-tonnes of gravel landed on its side after skidding and fell on the hillside. The incident is believed to have been caused by slippery road conditions due to the rainy weather.


“After conducting a Rescue, Exposures, Containment, Extinguish, Overhaul (RECEO), firefighters found that the lorry driver was pinned inside his lorry’s cabin and proceeded to rescue the driver using special tools,” it said.

The statement noted, the driver was later handed over to the Ministry of Health (MOH) ambulance waiting at the location for further action.

“The operation ended at 10.15am, after firefighters ensure that the situation is under control and safe,” the statement read. –DayakDaily.
