KUCHING, Nov 1: Bandar Kuching incumbent Dr Kelvin Yii Lee Wuen has spent about RM830,000 on healthcare in his constituency since he was elected as an MP in 2018.

Dr Yii, who is Democratic Action Party’s (DAP) candidate for Bandar Kuching, said healthcare is an issue close to his heart and something he has been championing since he was elected.

“I believe it’s important to ensure our people in Bandar Kuching get the best available quality of care. One of the ways to do this is through improving facilities and taking care of the welfare of the healthcare staff.

“With that, the best services can be provided even to the poor and most vulnerable efficiently, thus increasing the quality of care for the people,” he said in a statement today.

In addition, he said that medical staff are not just frontliners but also society’s last line of defence, which is why it is crucial to ensure that their welfare is protected.

Meanwhile, Dr Yii also said he paid a visit to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) a few days ago to hand over allocations worth RM100,000 to purchase some non-medical equipment for the hospital to improve and enhance its environment.

He said the allocations would be used to purchase more than 100 units of three-person waiting chairs and computer equipment for the specialist room. — DayakDaily
