KUCHING, Nov 5: The 15th General Election (GE15) is critical because it could either result in a federal government led by corrupt, extremist forces which fight along racial lines, or one helmed by Pakatan Harapan (PH), which truly believes in multiculturalism, inclusivity, and addressing issues that are important to the people, claims Bandar Kuching incumbent Dr Kelvin Yii.

Dr Yii told reporters this today at the nomination centre (PPC) in the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Community Hall here, following the acceptance of his nomination papers.

“In the campaign for this election, I will share my ideas and policies not only for Bandar Kuching, but also on a national level, where we would focus on issues such as education, where our youth should prioritise adequate, equitable, and quality education.

“In addition to jobs for our youth, there will be age care and economic care for our elderly in Bandar Kuching and Malaysia.

“This is what we will bring to the people. We are bringing our bullets and our strength to the people as we work to build a multicultural, inclusive Malaysia for all,” he disclosed.

He also expressed his excitement for GE15 because it is the first time that young people will be able to vote.

“This demonstrates the inclusivity and multicultural spirit that PH is fighting for. Without what PH did, young people would not have a voice, and today is the result of our inclusivity and belief in empowering young people,” Dr Yii added.

The Bandar Kuching incumbent will face off against Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Kuching Youth chief Eric Tay Tze Kok and PBK president Voon Lee Shan for the P195 Bandar Kuching parliamentary seat in GE15.

In GE14, Dr Yii won the Bandar Kuching parliamentary seat with 45,548 votes against SUPP Women chief Kho Teck Wan who garnered 12,575 votes.
