KUCHING, July 21: The late Pehin Sri Adenan Satem declared July 22 as a public holiday not for Sarawakians to “tidur saja” (just for sleeping), says Deputy Premier Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian.
Dr Sim said Sarawak Day is an occasion for Sarawakians to celebrate by gathering with family and friends either to eat laksa or kolok mee.
“I want to wish all ‘anak’ Sarawak, no matter where you are in the world, a Happy Sarawak Day on July 22. It is a day for us to celebrate in your own ways, be it getting together for laksa, kolok mee or for a ‘poco poco’, in a Sarawakian way.
“Enjoy yourself, because (the late) Adenan declared July 22 a public holiday not for you to ‘tidur saja’. Otherwise, he will be very angry with you,” he said in a featured 722 celebration video recording.
Dr Sim also wished all Sarawakians a happy Sarawak Day. — DayakDaily
