Dr Jerip calls on native students to master Chinese language

SIBURAN, Sept 26: Sarawak Transport Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Jerip Susil has called on students to master various languages ​​including Chinese language to further expand their career potential in the future.

According to a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Dr Jerip said Chinese schools in particular, have an important role in the development of Sarawak which consists of people from various ethnicities and religions.

“Through Chinese schools, students can learn Mandarin in addition to Malay and English languages.


“When they understand Mandarin as an intermediate language, this will probably open up more job opportunities for them,” he said at the opening ceremony of the 4th Chinese Cultural Festival at Dewan Siburan on Saturday (Sept 24).

Dr Jerip who is also Mambong assemblyman also urged the native Sarawak communities to send their children to Chinese schools.

At the event, Dr Jerip had the opportunity to hand over cheque amounting to RM194,000 to 11 associations and committees from around the Mambong constituency.

Among those present were the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China, Xue Liang and the Chairman of the Serian Division Chinese Language Primary School Federation, Kapitan Chong Kuek Fah. — DayakDaily
