KUCHING, Dec 4: The Tanjung Embang Deep Seaport development and Kuching International Airport (KIA) expansion will strengthen Sarawak’s connectivity as well as integrate renewable energy into the State’s economy, says Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability, Dr Hazland Abang Hipni.

“The Premier’s (Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg) vision sets a clear path toward a resilient and inclusive economic future. By leveraging Sarawak’s natural resources, digital innovation, and expertise in renewable energy, we (Sarawak) are creating a solid foundation for long-term prosperity,” he said.

Following this, he further acknowledged the strategic importance of enhancing Sarawak’s connectivity to the Asian Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region and beyond.

“The Tanjung Embang Deep Seaport and the expanded KIA will position Sarawak as a critical player in the regional and global trade network,” he said, “These developments will unlock opportunities for trade, tourism, and international collaboration.”

Dr Hazland also highlighted the critical role of public-private partnerships in driving Sarawak’s progress, noting that private sector investments would be important for economic diversification and innovation.

“As we move forward, our focus will remain on fostering innovation, sustainability, and inclusivity.

“These projects (Tanjung Embang Deep Seaport development, KIA expansion) mark the beginning of a new chapter for Sarawak, and we are determined to ensure their success,” he added. — DayakDaily
