KUCHING, Nov 10: The construction of the Sejingkat Bridge is expected to be completed within two years.
According to a news report from Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) today, Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability Dr Hazland Abang Hipni said the construction progress for the bridge is currently at 20 per cent.
The Demak Laut assemblyman said Sejinkat Bridge is one of the mega projects or high impact projects that will be a ‘game changer’ for the whole of Kuching.
“It will expedite the travel for residents of Kuching and Petrajaya to Samarahan as well as for the residents of Samarahan to go to Kuching and Petrajaya.
“This will change the economic landscape of the people in Kuching and Samarahan as well as solve the problem of road congestion that occurs along the Jalan Kuching-Samarahan Expressway,” he said.
Dr Hazland said this when met by reporters during a walkabout programme held in Kampung Senari together with Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate for Santubong Parliament Dato Sri Nancy Shukri and Santubong incumbent Dato Sri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, today.
Dr Hazland added that Demak Laut constituency also has several other high-impact projects being implemented such as a housing project in Muara Tabuan with an area of 300 acres that can accommodate 600 affordable houses.
He said there are several other projects for the people in that area which are now in planning stage. — DayakDaily
