BELAGA, July 2: The upgrading of Jiwa Murni roads damaged by log trucks, will be discussed with the Minister of Public Works Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi.
According to a report by TVS, Deputy Prime Minister Dato Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the matter will be discussed at the next Cabinet meeting this Friday (July 5).
“The Jiwa Murni programme was started by Datuk Seri Najib Tun Abdul Razak, and when I took over, I continued his legacy to upgrade the roads.
“Therefore, this Friday at the Cabinet Meeting, I myself will tell (Nanta) to upgrade all Jiwa Murni roads and extend it beyond 100 kilometres,” he said during the launching of the Punan Ba solar hybrid project here yesterday (July 1).
In the same event, Zahid announced a RM15 million allocation for the construction of a bailey bridge at Punan Ba.
He also said the construction of the road from Punan Ba to Samling Junction for a distance of 20 kilometers (km) will be examined.
Earlier, Deputy Minister of Digital-cum-Hulu Rajang MP Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong told that the existing bridge to cross Punan Ba is currently a suspension bridge which is used by the community to send children to school.
Also present were Sarawak Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunication (MUT) Datuk Liwan Lagang, and Dewan Negara member Senator Michael Mujah Lihan. — DayakDaily
