DPM: Nat’l food security committee to focus on technological usage to address food security challenges

KUCHING, April 9: The Executive Committee on the National Food Security Policy will focus on technological usage to address Malaysia’s food security challenges.

Deputy Prime Minister Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof who is also the committee chairman, said they will also look into the entire value chain involving the quality of seeds together with agricultural inputs such as fertilisers, breeds (of crops and animals), as well as animal feed.

ā€œFarms under my ministry (Ministry of Plantation and Commodities) will also participate in this. From there, we will coordinate with the whole ministries involved and industry players, including researchers from local universities.


ā€œOverall, we will look into how technology can be used to produce enough food supplies that is affordable for our people. That is our focus,ā€ he told reporters when met after distributing ‘bubur lambuk’ during ‘Program Bubur Lambuk dan Sumbangsih Ramadhan Media Sarawak dan Liansin 2023’ in Satok, here today.

He added that currently, several strategies are being lined up and will be presented to the Executive Committee on the National Food Security Policy which is chaired by Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,000 packets of ‘bubur lambuk’ were handed out to the public during ‘Program Bubur Lambuk dan Sumbangsih Ramadhan Media Sarawak dan Liansin 2023’.

The programme was jointly organised by Federation of Sarawak Journalists Association (FSJA), Malaysia National News Agency (Bernama) Sarawak, and Sarawak Press Photographer Association (SPPA). ā€” DayakDaily
