KUCHING, Feb 2: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof has proposed several long-term measures to address the flood disaster in Sarawak, including the establishment of permanent temporary relief centres (PPS).
According to a news report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Fadillah Yusof said this initiative aims to ensure disaster management is more effective and comfortable for victims and safety personnel.
“What I am suggesting is that each district and division submit improvement proposals so that we can provide a permanent PPS.
“This centre can be used for various purposes and ensure better comfort for flood victims in the future,” he said this when met by reporters after visiting PPS centres at the Serian Indoor Futsal Court and the Serian Ranchan Hall on Saturday.
He had also announced that the government has approved the over RM1 billion for flood mitigation projects in Kuching, Bau, and Serian.
“We will continue to identify other areas that require long-term solutions.
“Additionally, there are ongoing coastal erosion and flood mitigation projects, while several new projects will be included in the 13th Malaysia Plan,” he added. – DayakDaily
