DPM emphasises cross-party participation, collaboration when delivering report on unity govt secretariat

KUCHING, May 14: Unity Government Leadership Consultative Council deputy presidents are made of leaders from Barisan Nasional (BN), Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) and Parti Warisan, says Dato Seri Fadillah Yusof.

The Deputy Prime Minister, who is also Unity Government Secretariat secretary-general said under the leadership of its chairman Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is also Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman, the Leadership Consultative Council has held three monthly meetings.

“The Leadership Consultative Council also after discussing has formed three Committees namely the Government and Political Agenda Monitoring Committee, the Consultation Committee and the Strategic Communication Committee.

“The three Committees have also held a series of meetings,” he said when presenting a brief report on the efforts of the Unity Government Secretariat during the Unity Government 2023 National Convention held at World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL) which was streamed live via BN’s Facebook page today.

According to Fadillah, although the unity government was formed about six months ago, through the Leadership Consultative Council and the Committee that was formed, it became a field for the leadership of the party to discuss and unite minds in matters of common interest.

He said the idea of establishing the Secretariat of the Unity Government was discussed together among the leaders of parties which made up the unity government.

After going through a series of discussions, he said, on February 8, a meeting of the party’s main leadership chaired by Anwar was held at the 36th Floor of Menara Dato Onn World Trade Center which officially at that time became the Office of the Secretariat of the Malaysian Unity Government.

“The main leadership meeting made a decision to appoint Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim as chairman for the Unity Government Leadership Consultative Council

“While the membership consists of the presidents and the top leaders of the component parties for each coalition,” he added. — DayakDaily
