SRI AMAN, Nov 13: Tamin assemblyman Christopher Gira Sambang is urging voters in P202 Sri Aman to learn from the mistake made by voters in P214 Selangau during the 14th General Election (GE14) in 2018.
He said that the constituents comprising mainly rural folk, suffered for almost five years as they did not get much development in the constituency.
“The government doesn’t like this kind of thing happen, and I urge voters here in P202 Sri Aman to support the GPS-PRS (Gabungan Parti Sarawak-Parti Rakyat Sarawak)bcandidate Dato Sri Sophia Brodie wholeheartedly,” he said.
“Don’t be poisoned by their (opposition’s) false promises as they cannot deliver, and people suffer,” he added.
Gira made these remarks at a ‘meet-the-people’ session at Rh Sabong Akong, Bayai Sri Aman, today.
He said that the voters in his State constituency learned hard.
“In 2021, thanked god, they learned and changed. So, during the last Dtate election, they voted for GPS.
“The voters in rural areas in my constituency, said “no way” to the opposition and we hope that Selangau in GE15 will return back to GPS,” he said.
Gira urged voters in P202 Sri Aman not to sway away from GPS because opposition candidates cannot do much if they win.
“They will still be a small voice as compared to GPS. So don’t be carried away by what they want to do,” he explained.
Gira advised voters not to be emotional and get carried away in supporting non-GPS candidates contesting in P202 Sri Aman as they would not have allocations for development if they win.
He said voters should not even think of candidates representing Malayan-based parties as any agenda concerning Sarawak will be controlled by them if they win in Sarawak.
“Sarawak has a strong GPS government, and we must continue to support the government, and we are better off, especially in terms of development of rural areas,” he said. — DayakDaily
