KUCHING, July 14: Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government (MPHLG) Michael Tiang is advising the business community in the property industry not to feel threatened about foreigners setting up businesses in Sarawak.
Tiang said it is a time to be consistent, to apply the right strategies and momentum to drive development, growth and prosperity to the people in a sustainable way.
“This is what we call equity and inclusivity,” he said at the official launch of the Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developer Association (Sheda) Property Expo 2023 held at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) today.
Tiang, who represented Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, read the latter’s text of speech went on to say that when foreigners including professional expats migrate to Sarawak, they need homes and offices.
“As these foreign workforce grows into a community, our property developers build townships, schools, commercial hubs, and housing. It all connects,” he explained.
“This is our home, we have to determine our destiny. We are at a point in Sarawakian history where we can choose to contribute by working together.”
