KUCHING, July 25: The Miri Country Music Festival (MCMF) returns to Coco Cabana Miri on Nov 22-23 this year.
According to a press statement, set to highlight the two-day country music festival are Dolly Parton Tribute Act – Diamond Dolly from the UK and Johnny Cash Experience from Germany.
“I am excited to see that we have a good variety of performers for MCMF 2019. It will be the first time we get a Johnny Cash and Dolly Parton tribute act to perform here in Sarawak and I am sure many fans are excited to see them perform,” said Assistant Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Lee Kim Shin at the official press conference for the event.
Other confirmed performers set to highlight the stage are Joe Ferdinands F&F (Singapore), Os Pombos (Kuala Lumpur), The Casual Ceilidh Band (Brunei) Frankie & His Music Machine (Miri), Lost Soulz (Miri) and more to be announced.
Already in its sixth year, MCMF was first created in 2014. According to the press statement, it has been deemed the first international country and western music festival in Malaysia and said to be the only one of its kind in the region.
“MCMF was created because of the affection that the local communities have for country music. Mirians are known to embrace not only country music, but also other elements associated to country music,” said Gracie Geikie, festival advisor for MCMF.
“The event has evolved throughout the years and it is not only just a music event but a lifestyle and social event that is suitable for the whole family. Apart from the music concerts on both nights, we have the food and craft bazaar as well as specialty music workshops during the day. I hope more people get the chance to explore and join in these workshops at MCMF 2019,” added Lee.
The event is organised and managed by Place Borneo Sdn Bhd. For more information visit www.miricountrymusic.com and Miri Country Music Fest on Facebook, or call 082-555189. — DayakDaily
