KUCHING, May 3: Dog owners who receive a notice during the Sarawak Integrated Rabies Enforcement Operation are required to submit complete documents of dog ownership within 14 days.

According to a news report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), a notice will be issued by the city council and Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) Sarawak if the dog owner is not at home during the operation.

This notice mandates dog owners to submit complete dog ownership documents within 14 days to both DVS and the respective municipal council.

Failure to comply may result in further action from the police.

For owners whose dogs are caught by the council, they can reclaim their dogs at the animal enclosure within 48 hours.

Dogs are only captured with owner’s permission or those wandering without an owner deemed as strays.

In light of these measures, the public is encouraged to avoid negative speculation and extend support to this crucial operation, aimed at eradicating rabies in Sarawak.

The enforcement authorities conducted the operation in Desa Wira in Batu Kawah on April 30, resulting in 35 issued compounds, 36 dogs vaccinated, 30 dogs licensed, and 21 stray dogs captured. — DayakDaily
