KUCHING, Sept 1: Road users are not allowed to park their vehicles on the shoulder of the road which could block the flow of traffic along the diversion route leading to the drive-thru testing site at the Covid-19 One-Stop Centre (COSC) in MBKS Community Hall.
Kuching District Police Chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah also advised the public heading to the drive-thru testing site to follow the designated traffic flow route which has been improved and will be open from 6.30am daily.
“The diversion route (Jalan Tan Sri Datuk William Tan-Jalan Padungan-inner ring route of MBKS Headquarters-MBKS Community Hall) will be opened to all vehicles and road users heading to the COSC at MBKS Community Hall.
“If the number of vehicles is reduced and movement of traffic is smooth, the diversion route will be reopened according to the original traffic routes,” he said in a statement today.
Ahsmon urged all road users going to the COSC to comply with instructions from police officers on duty as well as the traffic signages erected to ensure smooth traffic flow in and out of the facility.
The public is also advised to plan ahead for their journey and those with business in the city areas should opt to use other alternative routes instead of Jalan Padungan and Jalan Tan Sri Datuk William Tan which have been used as part of the diversion route to the drive-thru testing site.
Ahsmon warned that enforcement action under the Road Transport Act 1987 will be taken against anyone who disobeyed the instructions given by the police officers.
“Cooperation from all parties is needed to ensure that the Covid-19 screening processes can be carried out smoothly,” he added.
